Steering Committee Minutes 27 July 2010 |
|
Present: Kevin Nowland (Chair), Bernie Russell (Secretary), Gary Kichenside, Terry Jackson
Apologies: Bill Keith
- The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed. The issue of whether it would be possible for de-amalgamation to be put to a vote at the October AGM was discussed. While the matter is still under consideration and some options for making a vote possible were being explored, it was agreed that the minutes of the previous two meetings should stand (i.e. that it was felt at the time that it would be unlikely for a vote to be taken).
- A new option is being considered for the legal process of de-amalgamation, similar to that undertaken by the Cooma Country Club. This involves the transfer of assets into a subsidiary company then the sale of the subsidiary to another company (in this case the Tura Beach Country Club). This would be potentially a much faster, simpler and cheaper process. Legal advice is being sought from Piggot Stinson.
- There has been no progress on the formation of a new constitution although a meeting of sub-committee members will take place in the next two weeks or so. Bernie to report to next meeting.
- Kevin reported on recent revenue-raising initiatives for the club, e.g. trivia and poker nights. It was agreed that the new board will need to consider these and other initiatives for maximising club revenue, and make use of volunteer resources where possible to keep costs under control.
- The Board has agreed to email all members seeking an expression of interest in membership of the new club. An online survey may be possible in the anticipated timeframe (linked from the above email). The local Neighbourhood Watch group has also offered to distribute a hardcopy of the survey to local residents.
- Next meeting: Monday 9 August at 3:00pm. Bernie on catering duty.
